︎︎︎︎︎ Hello

I am what they call “crossing my t’s and dotting my i’s.”
(William Makepeace Thackeray)
Taking care of every detail, even minor ones. Being meticulous and precise. Doing things very carefully. Completing jobs paying attention to the details. Even literally crossing t’s and dotting i’s.

I’m Makayla. A thoughtful designer who cares in bounty. I seek beauty through my analytical practice that trusts in typography’s ability to tell a story and solicit replies. I draw attention to things that others may overlook and lead with my point of view, trying my best to be honest, intentional, and empathetic in all that I do.

I’m interested in the ethics of design, forms of research that reach more thoughtful solutions, topics that spark communal discourse, and advocating for a world that values rest.

More explicitly I want to:

  1. Build concise systems.
  2. Direct and guide visual languages.
  3. Make decks that tell stories.
  4. Develop campaigns for existing brands.
  5. Forge brand identities that manifest digitally and environmentally.
  6. Design books and publications from start to finish.
  7. Make custom typefaces.
